My niece is to thank for putting the idea of making a dragon into my head. I watched and thought of many movies that had dragons in them: Spirited Away, Dragon Hunter, The Hobbit, Tales from EarthSea, Shrek, Never Ending Story, Pete's Dragon. This dragon, Dee Dee, was mostly influenced by How to Train Your Dragon because they were so many different, colorful and fun dragons in it.
Next, I dove into my sock and glove stash. All unused. Dee Dee the Dragon ended up being made out of 1 sock with toes for her main body, an orange glove for her spikey tail and various socks for her mouth, tongue, tail, bottom, teeth and wing. The non-knit parts were velvet for the top of her nose, felt and buttons for her eyes.
Dee Dee has a beaded bottom for weight and a pretty little bow on her back that I decided to leave on from her main body sock. Thanks to my co-workers who helped to name Dee Dee. She is currently up for adoption through my etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/listing/74530308/dee-dee-the-dragon-fun-plush-fantasy.
